The Valley Animal Center received a grant from PetSmart Charities to help subsidize spay and neuter costs throughout 2015. It allows them to continue with their mission in helping alleviate the pet overpopulation problem by offering extremely low-cost spay and neuter promotions for dogs and cats in their clinic. The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program is looking for volunteers to help Medicare beneficiaries make choices about how they receive their prescription drugs and health care services. Kaiser Permanente Fresno Physician Jesus M Rodriguez, MD, was recently named a 2014 Cecil Cutting Award winner for his outreach in the Latino community. Dr. Rodriguez, a family medicine physician, was one of four physicians recognized out of more than 8,000 physicians within the Permanente Medical Group. About 50 Kaiser Permanente Fresno employees volunteered their time on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to clean and beautify Fort Miller School in Fresno. This is the tenth consecutive year that Kaiser Permanente Fresno employees have spent their Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday by volunteering with the non-profit organizations in the community as part of Kaiser Permanente’s mission of building healthy communities.
