April 5th and 6th
When The Table Mountain Casino BIG Hat Days is over on April 6th, there will be one person who will need a long vacation. I’m talking about our Events Director, Tammi Walton. For the past months, she has been working morning, noon and night, even the middle of the night, fielding phone calls and applications from over 1,000 vendors wanting to take part in the festival.
“We have had the greatest number of inquiries in several years. I am turning away many more people than we’re able to use”, commented Walton. This gives her the luxury of choosing the absolute best in crafters and businesses to line Pollasky Avenue on April 5th and 6th.
Some exciting new vendors include Jose Ortega who customizes and makes fishing lures. Melissa Harmon, who is serving our country with her husband, makes baby diapers and has a diaper service. She will have a private nursing area in her booth near 7th Street. Henry Ramos has an interesting cactus cleaning tool and Nicholas Meigs makes western chaps and chinks. And don’t miss Brandi Ortega on 4th Street has everything you need to make custom jewelry.
Happy Day Pony Rides returns to 7th Street where you can treat yourself to lots of sweet treats. On 4th Street you’ll find the Water Ballerz ride and the Great Amerian Petting Zoo.
The DMV lot is home to the kids carnival presented by Don Mauer. Your little ones will enjoy exciting rides and games.
Visit the expanded PowerTalk Radio booth in front of the DMV lot and The Wolf on 4th with live entertainment, They are all part of the Clear Channel Media Group, the media partner for the Clovis Chamber.
You’ll have to ignore the politically correct Food Police to enjoy the scrumptious food at BIG Hat Days. We have the biggest variety in many years. In addition to your favorites of kettle korn, shaved ice, corn dogs, Mexican tacos, and every kind of barbeque, you’ll find more funnel cakes, ice cream, chocolate covered fruit, hot pretzels and chicken wings.
Once again, we’ll have several Pepsi booths manned by local non-profits.
Thanks to popular demand, we will have TWO, count them TWO beer gardens with live bands. 805 and Michelob Ultra of Donaghy Sales are providing the tasty brews. Joining the original garden at Bullard and Woodworth will be one behind the American Legion on Woodworth and 4th Street. Listen to local music and support the American Legion by enjoying some of their tasty tri-tip.
The Clovis Chamber takes great pride in presenting a clean and safe event suitable for families of all ages. The Boy Scouts are responsible for keeping the venue clean. They’ll be out there emptying the trash cans and picking up litter on the street. They and their parents stay late on Saturday and Sunday to finish the job. On Monday, the Chamber staff patrols the same streets to make sure all the trash is gone and Old Town can open for business.
The Chamber appreciates the work of the Clovis Police and Fire. Their headquarters will be on the corner of Clovis Ave and 7th if you need to contact them.
