Join BIG Hat Days in Celebrating 81 Years of Big Fun!

For Immediate Release

March 27, 2019 – Clovis, CA. The year of 1938 heralded the introduction of ballpoint pens, the first use of Teflon, and the first issues of the Superman comics. It was also the premier year of Clovis BIG Hat Days, a celebration to honor hardworking Clovis cowboys and farmers. Their hats served to block the dirt and sun from their faces, and the townspeople were invited to don their favorite hats to salute them.

81 years later, Table Mountain Casino BIG Hat Days – A Clovis Chamber event – is now the Central Valley’s biggest celebration, covering 15 blocks of shopping, food, and entertainment for the entire family.

And with carnivals in two locations, there are lots of games and rides to thrill kids of all ages.
Join the festivities in Old Town Clovis on Pollasky Avenue, one block west of Clovis Avenue between Third and Ninth Streets, on April 6, from 9 am to 6 pm, and April 7 from 9 am to 5 pm. Parking is free in the surrounding lots and at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds.

Discover something for everyone at the 2019 BIG Hat Days 81st Annual Celebration:

Family Fun Attractions—Kids (and adults who are kids at heart) will love the wide variety of family activities, featuring Kids Carnivals on Fourth Street and Pollasky Avenue, between Eighth and Ninth. You’ll find Ryan’s Happy Day Pony Rides, water balls, and the Clovis Police Department Obstacle Course for everyone’s pleasure.

15 Blocks of Shopping—Browse the cornucopia of high quality, local merchandise and one-of-a-kind crafts, including home goods, fine photography, and even children’s clothing and toys. Check out commercial business exhibits offering valuable Central Valley products and services.

Food for Every Appetite—Keep your energy up with traditional festival munchies that include kettle corn, shaved ice, and roasted corn, served by vendors along Pollasky Ave. For more substantial fare, visit the Bullard Food Court for rib-sticking barbecue, Mexican fare, and corn dogs. This year, there are nearly 50 food vendors spread throughout the entire BIG Hat Days event!

The Michelob Ultra Beer Garden—Take your seat and kick back without the kids. Sip on a cold brew as you enjoy a wide variety of entertainment served up by the best local bands. Saturday’s band schedule includes Terry Isaac (9:00-10:30), Reckless Country (10:30-12:30), Ron Rodgers & The Last Chance Saloon (1:00-3:00), and Floyd VanLaningham (3:30-5:30). Sunday’s schedule includes the Morgan Hill Band (12:00-2:00), and Floyd VanLaningham (2:30-4:30).

This festival has grown so large that the Clovis Chamber of Commerce is seeking volunteers to help with the community-oriented and family-friendly activities. You’re invited to help out early mornings and enjoy coffee, donuts, and good company as we set the stage for the celebration.
