Announcing the Clovis Chamber’s 2020 Salute to Business Luncheon
For Immediate Release
January 22, 2020 – Clovis, CA.
Begin the New Year by celebrating our thriving business community. Join us for our annual Salute to Business Luncheon on January 30th from 11:30-1:30 at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District, 808 4th Street in Clovis as we honor local business leaders and award those whose achievements make our community special.
Awards will be presented to recognize:
The recipient of the Einar Cook Leadership Award: Peg Bos, President of Clovis Museum.
This first female mayor of Clovis (from 1984 to 1986) has deep roots in local history and culture, with grandparents that settled in Clovis in 1903. Serving as a volunteer president (and “janitor”) of the Clovis Museum since 2001, Ms. Bos strives to preserve the history of Clovis by chronicling real life stories of families and community members that make Clovis the successful cosmopolitan region it is today.
The recipient of the Businessperson of the Year Award: Scott Dority of DiBuduo & DeFendis Insurance Brokers.
Mr. Dority is a recognized leader in the insurance industry for more than 31 years, specializing in both business and personal insurance coverage in the greater Clovis area. With his experience in workers’ compensation and group health insurance, he helped to see his agency rise into one of the largest independent insurance firms in California. He takes a personal interest in guiding the Clovis community to success as the president of the Clovis Exchange Club, as a Board member of the Clovis Rotary Club, and in his active involvement with the Clovis Rodeo Association.
The recipient of the Business of the Year Award: Sassano’s Men’s Wear.
As the longest standing family business in Clovis (since 1932), owner Greg Sassano attributes his company’s long-range success to personalized service and a carefully curated inventory that fits the needs of our community. Starting in 1936, Sassano’s Men’s Wear bestows the prestigious Sassano Blanket Award to deserving Clovis High School athletes in each of 23 sports. The business proudly supplies greatly coveted letterman jackets to Clovis and Buchanan high schools.
The recipient of the Chamber Ambassador of the Year Award: Rob Cozzi Jr., managing director, financial advisor, and principal securities registered representative.
Rob has been a Clovis Chamber of Commerce Ambassador since 2006. His leadership and dedication to our Chamber have been integral to helping grow our membership. Three years ago, Rob also joined our Board of Directors and became a member of our Government Affairs committee. Mr. Cozzi is a fifth generation Valley resident serving his clientele in both the public and private sectors throughout the Fresno, Visalia, and Bakersfield regions. He provides business owners, and their employees, customized benefit packages, guiding them to executable financial plans that meet their short and long-term objectives. He proudly serves as a board member of the Institute for Family Business in addition to active service on the Fresno Estate Planning Counsel and the Society of Financial Services Professionals.
The name of the Director of the Year will be kept under wraps until this luncheon.
The Clovis Chamber is thankful for their many Annual Luncheon sponsors – especially the Fresno/Clovis Convention & Visitors Bureau and Clovis Glass, who are this year’s Presenting Sponsors. The Chamber would also like to thank Gold Sponsors; Caglia Environmental, Donaghy Sales, Media Solutions, Inc., Moore Than SEO, Noble Credit Union, Republic Services, and Wawona Frozen Foods, and Silver Sponsors; California Health Sciences University, City of Clovis, Clovis Community College, Cook Land Company, DiBuduo & DeFendis Insurance, Hedrick’s Chevrolet, and House of JuJu.
