Awards will be presented to recognize:

The recipient of the Einar Cook Leadership Award: Supervisor Nathan Magsig

After over two decades of servant leadership in both the church and public sector, Supervisor Nathan Magsig continues his passion for service as the Fresno County Supervisor for Clovis and eastern Fresno county. Supervisor Magsig was elected to the Fresno County Board of Supervisors in June 2016 and reelected for a second term in March 2020.  He spent 16 years on the Clovis City Council and was honored to represent the citizens of Clovis as mayor for two terms.  In 2020 Supervisor Magsig’s leadership was evident as he literally drove directly into the Creek Fire to assist and bring hope to the Shaver Lake Community and evacuees.

The recipient of the Businessperson of the Year Award: Susan K. Hatmaker, Esq.

Ms. Susan Hatmaker grew up in Clovis and is the principal in the law firm Hatmaker Law Group and primarily practices employment law representing employers of all sizes in public and private sectors. Susan has given her time and talents to CUSD as a governing board member and our business community in addition to many worthwhile organizations. When the pandemic hit in March 2020, Susan and her team digested the rapidly changing laws and were quick to present their findings and knowledge to our business community.  Susan gave countless free webinars and counseled businesses on how to navigate through the programs available through the relief packages that could potentially save their business.

The recipient of the Business of the Year Award: Clovis Community Medical Center

Starting in 1965 as a 35-bed hospital it has grown in scope and reputation. Clovis Community has expanded rapidly over the past decade to meet the growing needs of the Central San Joaquin Valley. This past year, the team at Clovis Community has responded with innovation, dedication, and speed. During the first year of the pandemic alone, they hospitalized more than 1,500 COVID-19 patients and triaged many more in the emergency room. The hospital broke ground in 2019 to add another five-story bed tower, a one-of-a-kind Heart & Lung Institute, six operating rooms, 15,000 additional square feet of emergency department space, more parking and enhanced radiology and lab services. Once completed in summer 2022, Clovis Community will have 352 private inpatient beds and will provide over 400 new jobs in a wide range of professions including nurses, therapists, technicians, and support staff.

The recipient of the Community Impact Award: Clovis Hills Community Church

Clovis Hills’ generous service is at the core of who they are. That is why, within hours of the Creek Fire evacuations, members of the church rolled up their sleeves and started a distribution center on the church campus. Seeing a need days after the start of the fire, Clovis Hills announced that the public could drop off donations in the church parking lot and they would get them to evacuees, fire fighters and first responders. Serving over 5,000 people, the church worked with our community to provide everyday supplies, gift cards, and even shelter for Creek Fire Evacuees.

The recipient of Chamber Board Director of the Year: Dr. Lori Bennett

An educational leader for more than 20 years, Dr. Lori Bennett serves as the President of Clovis Community College.  She is responsible for leading one of the newest and fastest growing community colleges in the state. Dr. Bennett is recognized as a transparent, collaborative leader, dedicated to providing high-quality instruction and student services to support student equity and student success.   Dr. Bennett has served on the Board of the Directors for the Clovis Chamber of Commerce Board for five years.  She has served on a variety of committees including Chamber Gives Back, Events, and Nominating committees.

The recipient of Chamber Ambassador of the Year: Kurt Sieve

Kurt has worked to assist his community with positions on the Clovis North Bronco Foundation and Band Booster programs, and a proud member of Rotary. He has served on the board of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and holds memberships in the Society of Financial Service Professionals and the Association of Certified College Funding Specialists. Kurt has served as a Chamber Ambassador since 2014 and was selected to the Board of Directors in 2018.
