The Clovis Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Salute to Business Dinner will be held on Thursday, January 16th at the Classic Catering Banquet Hall in Old Town. This is the time to say farewell and honor the 2013 team and welcome the new faces in 2014.
Awards will be presented to honor those going the extra mile for the Chamber and the community followed by a speech by State Senator Tom Berryhill.
Outgoing Chairman Ken May, while reflecting on the achievements of 2013, commented, “I am proud to have been a part of the great accomplishments this year from an increase in membership to our new logo and website and continuing success in our premier events.”
He will be passing the gavel to incoming Chairman Shelley D’Arcy who is looking forward to continuing the momentum from 2013. “We are planning to further expand our membership base by providing networking and educational value to help our members grow their businesses. Co-sponsoring the Leadercast event in May and graduating our first Young Entrepreneurs Academy class in June and starting a new class in October will continue the expansion of the Clovis Chamber brand.”
After the new Board of Directors is sworn in, we will be honoring the Ambassador and Director of the Year followed by the small business awards.
Being recognized as the Small Business of the Year is Milla Vineyards owned and operated by Debbie and Joey Milla. Started over 100 years ago by the Milla family, the winery has a storied history and produces award winning wines. The Millas have also been very active working with the Clovis Chamber and the community. You will be enjoying their wines with your meal at the banquet.
Kathy Sisk will be honored as the Professional Business Woman of the Year. Kathy, the founder and president of Kathy Sisk Enterprises, began her call center business in 1980. She also is a published author and speaker and considered an expert in the call center industry. She owns several other businesses including Butler Web and Design that is working with the Young Entrepreneurs Academy.
Dr. Steve Ward, Legislative Analyst/Government Relations of Clovis Unified School District is the Einar Cook Leadership Award Recipient. Steve has been involved with CUSD for 37 years leaving his indelible stamp of excellence at every position in his career. Currently, he is leading a statewide coalition of successful school districts working to establish economic parity in educational funding from the state. With the recent re-alignment of funds established by the governor, Clovis Unified will receive millions less in revenues than other, smaller districts. яндекс
Following the awards presentation, State Senator Tom Berryhill will speak to the audience. This year he was recognized as the Small Business Legislator of the Year. As a small business owner himself, he knows the economic damage that can be done by too many government regulations.
Tickets are available at the Clovis Chamber for $40.
