Kaiser Permanente’s award winning service is once again recognized. It received a four-star rating for overall quality of care in the annual Healthcare Quality Report Card from the Office of the Patient Advocate. Kaiser Permanente Northern California also was ranked as having the second top Medicare health plan out of more than 408 health plans in the country according to a study released by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.

Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center retained its top grade of “A” in a safety report by The Leapfrog Group which examined more than 2,500 hospitals throughout the United States. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national nonprofit that releases its Hospital Safety Scores twice a year based on the latest publicly reported data available. In May, Kaiser Permanente Fresno also received an “A” giving it the top grade among hospitals in Fresno, Kings, Tulare and Madera counties. Details: 448-4138

Joe Garcia, Development Director of Valley Public Radio tells us that they’re moving to Clovis within the next two years. They have purchased land on the NW corner of Temperance and Alluvial and will be announcing a Spring 2015 Groundbreaking date soon. The Chamber’s big scissors are ready for their ribbon cutting. Kelly Bennett, owner of Sequoia Sandwich Clovis, shared her inspirational story of Inventing Bumpits, the As Seen on TV Hair voluminzer that sold over 10 million units, at the last Clovis Chamber Women Business Owners Roundtable. It was well attended and great. On November 18th, she spoke to the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, Class of 2015 about her experiences and to tell them to pursue their dreams of business ownership. Ad-Venture Video Productions continues to be in the forefront of technology by implementing the newest LED lighting technology to their tool set. The low power consumption, no heat and AC/DC capable fixtures helped on a shoot for Fresno Yosemite International Airport when they had to light Santa Claus in a tiny cockpit. These lights help fulfill their continuing goal to continually go greener. Owner Ted Ruiz also hosted the first Young Entrepreneurs Academy fieldtrip where they were put in the “hot seat” and had to present an impromptu speech in front of the cameras. Clovis Grocery Outlet proudly assisted their cashier, Diann, to raise money for MDA and send her grandson Stevie to New York as his Make A Wish! Together with the Clovis community, they raised over $500 for MDA research in just 2 weeks! Fresno Republic Services is proud to recognize Heliodoro Banuelos, a commercial driver, who found a wallet filled with $300 in cash and credit cards, at one of his sites. He went out of his way to return it to the rightful owner. The owner came into their office to thank them for hiring honorable and trustworthy employees.
